6. Coding

a) Do lengthy pages provide visitors, through the use of Top/Up page links at regular intervals (example - every 6th page down scroll) the opportunity to have a more “in depth” read by being able to easily return to the top of the page? (Up to 2 points available)

b) Is the web site content fully accessible to all visitors including those with disabilities (example - relative/variable font sizes ) etc? Up to 2 points available.

c) If W3C/WDG HTML, FAE and/or W3C CSS validations are claimed do all the web site pages displaying this fact validate using the relevant W3C/WDG HTML, FAE and/or W3C CSS standards? Up to 3 points available.

•  Applicants Guide: If such a claim is displayed on any web page we will have the expectation that the web page will be W3C/WDG HTML, FAE and/or W3C CSS valid. You may read what we expect if validation claims are made by accessing the Validation Claims link in the New Window Links menu and you may access relevant validation testing tools from our lower right side facing Validation Tools menu (this item being available from this page only.)

If up to three (3) pages prove to be invalid, points will be deducted at the rate of one (1) point per invalid page to a maximum deduction of three (3) points overall. If four (4) or more site pages prove to be invalid we will consider this to be a W3C, WDG and/or FAE copyright/trademark infringement issue.

•  Exclusion: Any Blog that is 'stand alone' or appended to a main site created through the use of the online WordPress, Joomla etc,as long as the Blog pages do not declare the Blog pages are W3C/WDG HTML, FAE and/or W3C CSS valid.

d) Are all the web site pages coded correctly for SAFESURF labels that the applicant may be using? Up to 4 points available.

•  Applicants Guide: If such claims are made through the display of images and/or text link validations/certifications and up to two (2) SAFESURF pages prove to be invalid although efforts have been made to comply, points will be deducted at the rate of two (2) points per each invalid SAFESURF page to a maximum deduction of four (4) points overall. If such claims are made through the display of images and/or text link validations/certifications and three (3) or more site pages prove to have invalid SAFESURF claims we will consider these to be a copyright/trademark infringement issue.

•  W3C, FAE, SAFESURF and/or any other like valiation and/or label claims: We do not demand that web designers use W3C, FAE, SAFESURF and/or any such validations and/or labels as we allow that not all web site owners utilize any of the above resources and under such circumstances points available will be allocated. However, we do have the expectation that web site pages that display claims of being valid and/or labeled with these services will be coded correctly in order to pass the testing inspection.

e) Does your web site display horizontal scroll bars in 800 x 600 resolution? If yes, we will deduct (3) points. If no, we will allow all the points? 3 points available.

•  Exclusion: Any web site page that includes full sized wallpapers where displayed is a thumbnail image or a text link that opens a page with a reduced image which in turn provides an option to view the wallpaper at full size so as to enable viewer to right click and save the wallpaper as a desktop.

f) Do the web pages have any incorrect source code - including but not limited to - no image height and width measurements, incorrect URL targets, exposed Html (coding that can be read by viewers on the page front) etc? We are not referring to image height and width measurements within alt and title attributes that can be read by 'mouse hovering' over images but to measurements that should be within the source code for each displayed image in order to maintain correct dimensions? Up to 3 points available.

g) Does the web site have any encoded scripting errors that can cause display problems in the web pages? Up to 3 points available.

h) If the web site uses frames are all frame commands functioning correctly? If the site does not use frames we will allow points. Up to 3 points available.

i) Are the page meta tags coded for search engine efficiency especially within main pages such as the Index and all and/or any other entrance pages? Up to 2 points available.
