• 9. Disabling our assessment tools: Please try to avoid disabling your visitors mouse and browser buttons taking away the control of your visitors. Included under this item are web sites that maximize browser windows automatically and scripts that disable the right mouse click function. Please read our exception.
• 10. Browser/computer crashes: A caring web site owner will ensure that the web site contains nothing that will cause our browsers and/or computers to crash.
• 11. Language: As we do not have bilingual skills we are only able to accept web sites in the English language for assessment.
• 12. Enable our access: If you require registration and/or passwords to view any area we will be unable to gain adequate site knowledge to provide a fair assessment. We want to see what you offer so please provide us with access. However, we do permit certain exceptions in this area.
• 13. Horizontal scroll bars: As horizontal scroll bars on web sites are an inconvenience, please try to ensure this does not happen in 1024 x 768 screen resolution. Please Note: Exclusions - Any web site page that includes full sized wallpapers where displayed is a thumbnail image or a text link that opens a page with a reduced image which in turn provides an option to view the wallpaper at full size so as to enable viewer to right click and save the wallpaper as a desktop image as well as maps / drawings / photographs of required historical and / or informational value in keeping with the web site main subject.
• 14. Mouse/touch pad interference: Trailing cursor and/or changer codes cause interference with normal mouse and/or touch pad function thus they become a nuisance and we should do our utmost best not to use them.
• 15. Forced (or otherwise) downloads and/or plug-ins: No one likes not knowing what is being downloaded to their computer so we know your web site will not provide forced (or otherwise) downloads and/or plug-ins to enable visitors to view your web site. If your web site requires software and/or plug-ins to be downloaded there should be information displayed that the software and/or plug-in is safe to install and provision of a direct link to the manufacturers software and/or plug-in description.
• 16. Flash skip intros: Flash introductions should always provide a 'skip intro' option to allow visitors to proceed to the main page of your web site if they choose.
• 17. Content: We are eager to learn about your favorite subject. The display of pages and pages of external links tell us little about you or your web site creativity.
• 18. Involuntary popup windows: Involuntary popup windows including but not limited to Geocities banners or other free web site hosting advertisements are not only annoying but are totally ineffective advertising tools. Unfortunately, we will only accept two (2) involuntary popup windows per site. We hare happy to accept all manually selected new windows as our right to choose has not been removed.
• 19. Disabling source code view: Web site designers attempt to protect their content by the use of right click disabling codes. The use of such coding is not only relatively useless in protecting page content it also interferes with our requirement to be able to check the web page source code. We do not accept pages including this type of coding.
• 20. Awards received: Web site owners who want to win our awards need to have an Awards Received page in order to proudly display them.
• 21. Under construction notices: Web sites are, in the main, always under construction, therefore we will not find displayed in your web site 'coming soon' and/or 'under construction' notices.
