Support for Orphans.

Awarded: January.

Site description.

•  Created by a group of people dedicated to improving the lives of orphans in Kazakhstan, a struggling nation of the former Soviet Union, the Antares Foundation is home to more than 14,000 orphans. Though orphanage directors and staff do their best to care for the children, funding is scarce and even basic needs are often not met. After two years of successful collaboration with representatives in northern Kazakhstan, they became incorporated in 2004 as a non-profit agency to expand their team and their ability to provide assistance that is so desperately needed.
