Repairing CD / DVD surface damage

If you have a large CD or DVD collection it is just about a sure bet that at least one of them is scratched. You may not realize it ( because one just does not always have the spare time available to examine each disc on a daily basis to make sure they are not scratched ) but it does happen from time to time. These discs are very durable but it is also very hard to prevent damage to them at times. You are now probably wondering if there is a way that you can easily fix those scratches.

There are special CD / DVD repair kits available but before you go out and buy something try fixing it yourself. You can run warm water or rubbing alcohol over the CD / DVD to clean it and when you have finished, just shake the excess liquid off and be sure to let the CD / DVD air dry.

Polishing can sometimes repair a scratch by making it more shallow and the best thing to use is, believe it or not, toothpaste ( especially toothpaste that includes baking soda. ) Just apply a small amount of the paste to a piece of cloth and gently polish the whole CD / DVD. You can then rinse the disc with warm water and let it dry.

Whatever you do to fix your scratched CD / DVD discs, you do have several options that should resolve the problem.
