. . . strive to view web site material as we believe it would be perceived by any reasonable person without any cultural, religious or other bias when one is to determine whether the material is appropriate for young children. Although we aim at being neutral there may be at times, material where a classification is not obvious.

Botticelli's artwork 'Birth of Venus' displays a female breast that could be deemed by some to be indecent, however the paintings intention can reasonably be assumed to be artistic and in many cultures it is not unreasonable to assert that it is suitable for young children. Classical painting and sculpture can be assumed to be intended as artistic and such works of art are not deemed by this award program to be indecent and / or unsuitable for young children.

Male and / or female genitalia in detail, female breasts and / or bare buttocks combined with explicit sexual acts, obscured or implied sexual acts, visible sexual touching, passionate kissing, the portrayal of blood splashing, pools of blood on the ground, objects or persons smeared or stained with blood, bomb making, fraud, vandalism or violations of local customs or laws, material intended to invoke fear, horror, suicide, threats, humiliation, psychological terror, death, suffering, pain, punishment, bullying, abandonment, dramatic accidents and confusing elements of irony or parody and similar material would all be unfit for assessment from this web site as we believe such items to be potentially harmful for children and of concern for parents.

How we view art content

Views on what constitutes acceptable art content are wide and varied and although we do not desire to be seen as discriminatory we have set our own standards on what we view as 'family safe' and / or 'child safe' surfing'. We have gone to some lengths in an attempt to define for applicants what we deem acceptable in the areas of art content. Any web site which upon evaluation shows it displays art content and such content, upon close examination, proving in the opinion of the majority of our assessment team to be of quality, even though such content includes nudes, will not be excluded from this award program but the relevant content will be assessed according to the following criteria and rulings:

1. Is the art content specific to mammary, genital or sexually based items of an offensive non child safe nature with the site not displaying clearly any notation of ' Parental Guidance Recommended ' being suggested or required? If no, the web site will continue through to our next requirement for art content. If yes, the web site does not qualify for any further assessment.

2. Could the art content be safely viewed by children with parental guidance and supervision? If yes, the web site will continue through to our next requirement for art content. If no, the web site does not qualify for any further assessment.

3. Could the art content be safely viewed by any age group without either supervision or the need to display clearly any notation of ' Parental Guidance Recommended ' being suggested or required? If yes, the web site will continue through the overall evaluation process. If no, refer to the above two items listed.

Nudity of the human form is not classified by this award program as indecent under the following conditions:

a. Images must be displayed in a tasteful and respectful manner within any specific area set aside for art content.

b. The site owner or designer must notate areas including nudes and / or risque content as 'Displaying Nudes' or 'Displaying Adult Material' and include the information that these items may be viewed displaying the notice 'Parental Guidance Recommended' and with 'borderline' material being notated 'Parental Guidance Recommended' - all notices being clearly visible.

c. Images must not be directly or solely focused on genitalia areas. We do not deem such material to be child safe.

For the purposes of the above definition and our award program, a 'child' will be considered to be any person under and up to the age of fourteen ( 14 ) years.
