In April 2001 an issue of the above publication included Mr. Newman's choice for the Top 12 Illustrious Web Site Awards.
Note: Some truly great award programs and / or web sites are listed that no longer exist. Non existent sites will be unlinked.
‡1 - Superb! Website Awards - Your web site must have won between 100 to 500 awards or more before you qualify for these.
‡2- Maestro Awards - Sites are judged on functionality, design, innovation and technology so make sure yours are up to scratch.
‡3 - Beehive Awards - Sites must be among the top 1% of all sites for content, design, graphics, techniques and presentation.
‡4 - Otakou Awards - ( now O.N.Z.C.D.A™ ) - Winners must show excellence in design and content and be safe for families and children.
‡5 - Panda's Pride Award - Sites should have a defined reason for being and have excellent design and navigation.
‡6 - Sinapsis Award - Sites must lend something informative and be innovative, entertaining or useful. Web site now closed.
‡7 - 42nd Street Award - This award seeks to keep the web fun and a pleasant, helpful and informative community.
‡8 - Star Site Award - Sites need a unique layout, original graphics and their own server. Not really for the average home user.
‡9 - Monolith Award - Three awards up for grabs and given to sites with quality design, content and navigation.
‡10 - Peacework Certified Sites - Based on three concepts of web page design - contents, aesthetics and ease of navigation.
‡11 - Harbeson Medals - Sites must be 'kid safe', boast top design, use current technologies and must be regularly updated.
‡12 - Silver Spheres Award - Layout, design, originality, graphics, navigation, functionality, load time and overall impression are reviewed.
